Lucie is a ceramicist and an artist. Her work in both media is based on abstract forms in and is expressionist with inspiration coming from the movement in natural forms with an emphasis on impasto textures and vibrant animating colour.

The overarching theme of Lucie’s work is the inspiration from, interpretation and ultimately the evocation of ‘movement’. Her work evolved from a fascination with the frenetic, visually blurry and stormy movement of trees and tree branches. From that, via the process of trying to capture that essence in the studio through photography and ultimately painting, her interest then extended to the movement of the artist in the studio through an interplay of process (brushstrokes, mark making) and materials (oil, acrylic, charcoal etc.).
