Morley Gallery is pleased to present 'This Is Elsewhere', an exhibition by Morley College Fine Art Mentoring Group, led by artist and Course Director Erika Winstone.

Featuring work by eleven artists, the exhibition pursues the idea of elsewhere and what it means for each artist. In the space where we're making, we feel removed from our ordinary existence; occupied by seemingly more eternal questions. Elsewhere may be sought after, already found, dreamt of, or imagined.

The works comprise diverse themes and employ a variety of media including video, sculpture, installation, painting, photography, drawing and printmaking.

Exhibition curator Erika Winstone comments: “The work in this show demonstrates the rich achievements of each artist, as well as the benefits of alternative models of learning and access to a peer group with a wide range of histories, and experience. I congratulate each artist on this diverse and exciting exhibition”.

The course aims to form a bridge between college and thriving as independent artists, gaining confidence through forging connections and a sense of community. An important part of this journey involves working together to independently organise a group exhibition.

The Group would like to give special thanks to visiting artists Daniel Howard-Birt, Mark Dean, Matt Hale, Barbara Nicholls, Seb Patane for their invaluable contributions Also, many thanks to Jack Davy and the gallery team, Brendan Murphy, Gunter Herbst and Sara Robertson Jonas for their support.
